Trained people are the key to the future to provide solutions to the various challenges that companies, industry and society will have to face on in the digital society. For our industry to remain competitive, providing skills, knowledge and awareness is a critical task. Also collaboration with academia and industry are essential. Vocational trainings are also essential elements for the education of future experts in the most advanced technologies. The project “Engineers of the Future. Smart killed Secure” has been co-funded by the Erasmus+ European Union programme (project: 2022-1-PL01-KA220-VET-000086326), a commitment to support advanced training for young people

This project has addressed this skills gap by designing and testing a training programs in the 3 most important areas: cybersecurity, Industry 5.0 itself and the enegry efficency in the industrial context. The program includes novel, multidisciplinary curriculum combining digital skills that included the most advanced technologies. The project has been completed with highly satisfactory results in its 2-year duration. Over this period, the international team of experts from three EU Member States has developed specialized training courses that will help to equip professionals and engineers to face the challenges of modern industry. With the aim of driving the digital and sustainable transformation of the industrial sector, the training activities have focused on three main pillars:

• Automation: Participants have been trained in the use of advanced technologies and automated systems that optimize the efficiency of production processes, reducing costs and improving product quality.

• Cybersecurity: Critical knowledge has been provided to protect industrial infrastructure from potential cyber threats, emphasizing the importance of security in the era of connectivity and the Internet of Things (IoT).

• Industrial Sustainability and Green Energy: Addressed the integration of sustainable practices in the industrial environment, promoting the efficient use of resources and reducing the environmental footprint of operations.

The “Engineers of the Future” project has been coordinated by the Smart Secure Networks from Poland and has counted with the collaboration of the Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu Romania and the GAIA cluster of Euskadi.
